Library Program At BX

Mrs. Miller is the BX teacher- librarian. She breathes life into stories as she enthusiastically
spends time reading to each of our classes. She takes pride in serving students, teachers, and parents both in the classroom and outside the classroom.

Mrs. Miller welcomes all students at BX school to use the School Library to find books to read for pleasure. We encourage students to read books which are at their reading level allowing students to enjoy reading.

All students are given class time once a week to visit Mrs. Miller as she introduces new books to choose from for recreational reading. Students can also come to the library outside class time to choose books.

Mrs. Miller is working to teach students to learn to do research, using the encyclopedias, the electronic catalog, non-fiction book collection, the reference books, and the internet.

The library is open to students to giving them time to practice a skill related to finding information, books, or work with the classroom teacher to have students pursue a research topic.

You may have read about it in our newsletter last year or you may have heard your child taking about with their friends. It was the buzz in the hallways here at BX. Our Literary Extravaganza entitled Baggin’s Breath and Everlasting Bookworms.

Baggin’s Breath Teams are multileveled with at least 2 or more students from every intermediate grade. Each team also includes 2 adults (teachers, CEA’s or parents).

Teams choose an extraordinary name and design costumes as well as reading the required books that they will share their knowledge about.

To top up the evening all team member bring an arranged dish or drink that they will share with their teammates for the potluck supper.

Good children's literature appeals not only to
the child in the adult, but to the adult in the child.
